I have been trying out one of the American Defense Recon Quick Disconnect Mounts for the past 6 months or so. I was looking for a durable mount to put a scope on my ar. I also wanted to be able to remove the scope for the occasions that I would like to use a red dot instead. This scope mount has a good reputation for returning to zero once reinstalled, which is exactly what I was hoping for so I wouldn't need to rezero optics each time that I reinstall the scope on the rifle.
I shot 4 different three shot groups, one at each corner of the target. This was done at 100 yards with Federal M855 ammunition. I removed the scope mount from the rifle and then reattached it before shooting each group. Three of the four groups looked very similar. The only exception was the bottom right target. It had one flier that impacted a little low and left which I remember was due to me pulling the shot. The mean point of impact of each group was very close to the same location on each target with the one exception of the flyer that was on the bottom right target due to what I believe as shooter error.
All in all I am very pleased with this mount. My goal for this mount was to be able to remove my scope from my rifle in case I want to switch to a red dot and be able to switch back to the scope without having to re-zero the scope. Another plus to the recon mount is that the rings are split vertically. This makes it so you can buy replacement rings in different diameters such as 1”, 30mm or 34mm which is handy if you switch scopes later so you don’t have to buy a whole new scope mount. The replacement rings run about $87.
Hope everyone has a safe and fun weekend!
