Rangemaster is a long standing instructor network, founded by Tom Givens. The curriculum is deep on mindset and robust, repeatable techniques.
The Rangemaster Combative Pistol course is the next step to the concealed carrier. Unlike many classes, it is specifically made for concealed carry. Open holsters, especially battle belt style, are discouraged. With this in mind, all the techniques are worked from concealment, with the equipment you would actually have on your person.
The class begins with safety, as all good classes should. We dove deep into the real meaning of the 4 firearms safety rules, as applied to the real world. Rangemaster refers to them as Lifestyle Rules.
We followed safety with anatomy of the human body and the accuracy necessary to accomplish a physiological stop.
On the range, we worked reliable techniques for manipulations such as over hand racking the slide, as well as specific magazine manipulations for topping off the gun. We worked the Rangemaster Qualification, which seem simple, but is not easy. Though many stages are repeated, and it seems easy to just do the same thing over again, it does require that you have NO mental errors.
Finally, we finished with a classroom course on mindset. We broke down the 1986 FBI Miami Shootout, watching videos and trying to understand the dynamics of what it takes to survive a violent encounter.
I highly recommend this class, or any other Rangemaster courses. They can be found at: rangemaster.com/register/
